so i'm watching this thing on the news about tomorrow's shakeout. biggest earthquake drill day or something. i think earthquake drills in school are pointless for two reasons:

1. earthquakes rarely happen during school hours. it's like mother nature knows not to interrupt studies. bitch.

2. of my 26 years living here (2 in FL), i remember only one earthquake that happened at school. high school, soph year, geometry class. we had a tremor. it wasn't super huge but it was a shaker. did anyone duck and cover? no. someone yelled it which made us laugh. did they evacuate us to the field like they do in drills? no! we wanted to go but the teachers kept us inside and went on with class. i think they were trying to kill us. fucking aztecs.

the best one was when i was at fjc. geology class. "hey guys, you know we're having an earthquake today? right about now." to which he put to chairs back to back, shook them around then separated them to demonstrate the different kinds of movement. he was really cool. i loved that class.
