Jul. 5th, 2008 01:10 ami discovered one of my friends has a blog. she doesn't know i read it and she doesn't know about my lj. i think. but whatever. i check in every now and then to see what's up. this is her latest:
this new hands free cell phone thing is ridiculous!!! correct me if i'm wrong, but you just can't have a cell phone up to your head. so you can still dial, text, use the speakerphone... all require you to hold the phone. anyhow, i went out and got a bluetooth thing. i'm a small person. it doesn't work. the ear-loop thing is too large and because of that the actual earpieces is on my earlobe. i know it turns, but it still doesn't work and i can't hear anything. people do all sorts of things with their hands while they are driving. let's be honest, not too many of our steering wheels haven't seen both of our hands simultaneously since we were 16. the act of driving with one hand is not the issue here, it's the distraction of talking on the phone. the conversation you are having while driving is the distraction. argh.
there needs to be a law about picking your nose while driving or eating a hamburger and fries. those activities occupy a hand too.

i feel the need to add that, upon reading her blog, i find myself feeling quite proud of her. while we were growing up, she was the fun, social girl whereas i was the more quiet and studious (albeit slacker) type. really, she is the epitome of the type of person i gravitate towards. loud, outgoing, ambitious, full of personality. the other people i were around kind of thought less of her and bought into the blonde-girl role, so to speak. they were in the honors classes with me and didn't understand why i associated with her. i mean, she's not like a rocket scientist or anything (hell, neither am i), but the bitch is smart and bright and funny. and she will give you her left kneecap if you really really needed it. after 21 years, i'm still impressed by her. damn, i've known her for an entire adulthood. our friendship is officially legal.
